Ashley Clarke is an award-winning journalist and a multiplatform editor at the Center for Public Integrity. She believes that journalism is a powerful tool to connect people from all walks of life. She is a Baltimore native and a proud University of Maryland alumna where she majored in Multiplatform Journalism and Arabic. She is also a member of Oak Hill Center for Education and Culture, a group that works to transform the current economic, political, social, and cultural system that impoverishes millions of people worldwide.

Previously, she served as the director of film programming at Brooklyn Academy of Music, and has curated film series at venues such as BFI Southbank, Museum of Modern Art, TIFF Bell Lightbox, and Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. He is a frequent contributor to film and culture publications, including The New York Times, Vulture, 4Columns, Film Comment, and Sight & Sound, and is the author of the book Facing Blackness: Media and Minstrelsy in Spike Lee’s Bamboozled (2015).
